Master pacenotes with one-on-one training from a rally champion on rally roads.

Learn to write, read, and drive to pacenotes with one-on-one guidance from a rally champion with over 20 years of national and international rally experience.

This hands-on course takes place on rally-style backroads and real rally roads, equipping drivers and co-drivers with the essential skills needed to master pacenotes—the key to gaining a competitive edge in rallying.

You can drive your own car or Race Lab's Subaru Imprezas which automatic with a manual gear selector.

Drivers and co-drivers can come and train together or separately, depending on your goals.

If you choose to drive our Subaru, the price for the car includes: fuel for the day, 6 tires specifically chosen for the season (including 2 spares), tire changing equipment, rally headsets and intercom, recovery equipment, encrypted radios.

How this Works

The date, time, locations, and additional logistics will be discussed on a consultation call that will happen shortly after you complete the purchase

Approximate training start and finish are 10 AM and 6 PM, respectively. This is flexible, however, dependent on your preferences and goals (e.g. you want to work on day driving or night driving). Exact times will be confirmed after you sign up.

You will have a consultation call before the training, during which you will cover the following items:

  • Your current skill level
  • Your rally goals, career goals, etc.
  • Are you a driver or a codriver
  • Are you training alone or with a codriver
  • If you will be training on your own car, what car you have
  • What location(s) and roads would be best suited for your skills, goals, car, etc.
  • What dates and times are convenient for you
  • Additional logistical details

What to bring, where to go, and any other additional info you will know from the consultation call.

You will be training on public backroads, which have the same geometry, surface and topography as real rally roads. Real rally roads can be arranged as well if required.

You will be on-on-one with the instructor for the whole duration of the training. Training is 6-8 hours per day, including a couple breaks for food, gas, and mental pauses (trust us, you'll need those). The format is very flexible, just make sure to communicate with your instructor.

The curriculum and speed of progression depends on your current skill level and your learning abilities.

  • If you are a complete novice, you will start from an introduction to how pacenotes work, their importance in rallying, the different possible systems, what notebooks and pens are recommended to use, and you will of course learn to read pacenotes and drive to them.
  • If you are more advanced or very advanced, you will chat about what to focus on during the consultation call.

Reminder: You will train on public roads, so please make sure you have your driver's license with you. If you are using your own car, please have all documents with you as well, and the car must be road legal.

IMPORTANT: Please note this training happens on public roads, therefore the driver must have a valid driver's license, the car must be road legal if you drive your own car, and you must abide by all laws and regulations.

TRAINING DURATION

Select 1 to 3 days. Each day is 6-8 hours.

INDIVIDUAL DRIVERS

  • If you have multiple drivers who each wants full days of training, please add as many "Individual Drivers" as you have drivers who want to drive separately. Please note their training will happen on separate days.
  • If you want to bring YOUR CODRIVER or ADDITIONAL DRIVERS IN THE SAME CAR, you are welcome to do so free of charge.
