The fundamentals for racing with a manual transmission
This course will teach you professional motorsport manual shifting techniques needed for drifting, time-attack, racing, rallycross, performance (stage) rallying.
You must be proficient with driving stick or have completed the Advanced Manual training in order to take this course.
The curriculum is based on our extensive experience in motorsports. We've identified the approach and progression that guarantees the highest success rate and speed of learning.
Training is one-on-one in your car or Race Lab's car on either public roads, tarmac track/skidpad or a dirt track/skidpad, depending on the kind of racing you are training for. If you are unsure, contact us and we will gladly help you out!
On public roads a valid driver's license is required and the car must be road legal.
On a tarmac track and skidpad a valid driver's license is required.
On Race Lab's dirt track and skidpad you DO NOT need a driver's license.
The Curriculum
- Professional motorsport manual shifting techniques needed for drifting, time-attack, racing, rallycross, performance (stage) rallying
- Heel-toe downshifting while using e-brake. Three pedals and e-brake all together - crazy, right? 🙂
- Left foot braking with a stock manual transmission (H-pattern synchro)
- Shifting regular and motorsport transmissions without using the clutch at all (in case of mechanical failures)

After you complete the purchase, we will reach out to you to discuss your current driving level, your goals, and what location and date is convenient for you. Based on the information you provide and our curriculum, we will put together and send you a custom training plan.
*Please note: IF YOU CHOOSE TO TRAIN ON A TARMAC TRACK, the cost of the track is NOT INCLUDED in the total you pay to Race Lab. You will have to pay for a track day pass separately depending on the track that you choose during this consultation call. The track chosen will depend on your car, skills, and driving goals.

The training will be 2 hours of one-on-one private coaching with the instructor. Depending on your skill level and progression during the training, the instructor will adjust the curriculum if needed.
