Skid pad drills to build a strong foundation for advanced car control
Just like learning a new language, learning advanced car control starts from the ground up. However, unlike learning the alphabet, learning the fundamentals of car control is insanely fun!
You'll slide, accelerate hard, brake hard, and experiment to develop a deep feel for the car with one-on-one guidance from an instructor on a dirt and gravel skidpad.
Your driving time slot will be assigned after purchase. We’ll do our best to accommodate your preferred time, but please note that early bookings get priority. The event runs from 9 AM to 7 PM.
You’re welcome to join us for the entire day and enjoy the atmosphere, but you’ll be on the track only during your allocated slot.
Race Lab's Subaru Imprezas are automatic with a manual gear selector.
For ages 16+. No driver's license needed, but some driving experience is required.
What You Will Learn
- Regaining control in a skid
- Braking in slippery conditions
- Freestyle Drift Recovery - higher speed, flowing from side to side
- Collision Avoidance - avoiding a sudden obstacle on the road
The instructor will gauge your progression and make adjustments to the drills if necessary.

When you sign up, you'll get a link to an advanced steering tutorial. We STRONGLY recommend practicing it in an empty parking lot before the event. This will help you drive at an advanced level, allowing your instructor to push you further beyond your limits.
This is optional but almost not optional because of how important it is.
Opt-in for a 2-3 hour online classroom with Crazy Leo a few days before the event. He covers advanced car control techniques, shares rally stories, and more. It's interactive, so feel free to ask questions or just be a fly on the wall—no pressure :).
The class is included, optional, but recommended.
On the event day please come 15 minutes before your time slot to sign in. A helmet will be provided.
You will be training in one of Race Lab's Subaru Imprezas one-on-one with an instructor on our dirt and gravel skidpad. The curriculum varies depending on the amount of time you choose, please see "What You Will Learn" above for more info.
After the training day, you will get an email with custom feedback. This will include notes your instructor made during the training, additional commentary about your performance, as well as custom recommendations for future training and practice.
Generally recommended next steps would be:
- Retaking this same course if you feel like you need more practice, or taking the 2 hour course if you've done only the 1 hour
